Replica

Actors can be easily synchronized by simply adding the StrixReplicator component to them.
The Strix Cloud will then make a replica of each Actor (Replicas), and those Replicas will appear on every players’ screen.
Depending on which component you add, you can synchronize an Actor’s position, animation, physical movement, etc.,
and all of these synchronization processes can be set up in the Unreal Engine without writing any code.

RPC

RPCs (remote procedure calls) are used to execute processes in different applications. With Replicas, processes can be synchronized as well, but with the help of RPCs, you can easily set up how communication processes are executed on every users’ application.

Variable Synchronization

Variable synchronization is a feature that sends notifications when the property of a Replica has changed. For example, you can set up notifications when an item’s color changes, when entering a room, when a room’s status changes, etc.

How to Use the Strix Unreal SDK

The Strix Unreal SDK can be integrated quickly and with ease into your existing Unreal Engine based game project.

Step 1

Sign up for Strix Cloud

Sign up for Strix Cloud and log in to your console page.

Step 2

Set up a server

Create an application from the dashboard and set up cluster and server.

Step 3

Download SDK

Download Strix UE SDK from console screen.

Step 4

Import SDK

Just place SDK in your Unreal Engine game project’s plugins folder.

Step 5

Connect to Strix Cloud

Add a blueprint and set up nodes for connection. Then enter application and host ID to the nodes that you’ve created.

Step 6

Add components to an actor

Create an actor and add synchronization components to actor’s blueprint. You can change component’s settings to match your online game.

Step 7

Can be done in blueprint

Room creation and room participation condition-based matchmaking, RPC(Remote procedure call) and many other features necessary for online game development can be implemented in blueprint.
